FINAL NIGHT BREAKING NEWS...
What's the one thing you've always been able to count on since the beginning of FSX?
A. Robi and Plunkett will consume a ridiculous amount of beer.
B. Jaime will be horny.
C. Belgian Night wins Best Night of the Year honors.
D. There will be mud in every room and orifice.
E. Someone will make the walk up the driveway to retrieve their drunken significant other.
F. Topher will bring cheese.
G. The Pearsons will be seated by the fire, heckling racers throughout the night.
H. Pete will tend to his mullet a minimum of 5 times after racing.
I. Taylor will look like he was born riding a bike.
J. Steak will continue his pursuit for the Perfect Lap.
K. Bowman will complain about the scoring system.
L. Brad will ride with intensity.
M. Selene will race in a tube top when it's 30 degrees.
N. Kuklis will write odes to Fifth Street.
O. Ryan will talk big about how he won't miss ANY weeks THIS year.
P. There will be a Surprise Multiplier, announced just days before the final night of racing.
Q. All of the above.
Correct answer is, of course, Q. If you're confused about A-O, you've never been to FSX. If you're confused by P perhaps this will help...
Remember way back on October 9 when most of you got your first look at the 2008 edition of the FSX course? Remember how all the beer drinkers high-fived each other upon discovering the obscene advantage of the shortcut? Remember how three-quarters of the field suddenly became drinkers?
Time to even the playing field, just a tad, with this year's Surprise Multiplier. After we tally up your Season Multiplier (see the Real Deal on Scoring Post, under Belgian Night), we'll subtract points from that total based on your season-long PBR consumption. It works like this:
0 PBR = 0 pts. off
1-9 PBRs = .5 pts. off
10-14 = 1
15-19 = 1.5
20-24 = 2
25-29 = 2.5
30-34 = 3
35-39 = 3.5
40-44 = 4
45-49 = 4.5
50-54 = 5
55-59 = 5.5
60-64 = 6
65-69 = 6.5
70+ = 7

FINAL NIGHT BREAKING NEWS...
Oh no you didn't...
Well played Stickland. Well played indeed.
I guess this ensures "K" will be in effect

That is fucking hilarious. Poor Bowman. But one of the great things about FSX is its total disregard for proper rules and structure.
With that in mind, I just wanted to say that I have a really ugly sweater. But that there's zero chance I'm going to wear it on Thursday night.
I think if I can drink 5 beers on Thursday I can get my multiplier to zero.

At least Bowman doesn't have a negative multiplier like Xine and Jed. It works out that nearly all the people that can drink a lot can also ride pretty fast. Losing 4.5 points doesn't hurt so much when you have almost 60. Now Robi, on the other hand...
So in the end, the fastest people will still be on top. (Yes, Ryan, that's what she said.)

This is great!
This is great! Couldn't think of a finer addition to the scoring system, a better way to add a little excitement to what would have been, compared to last year, a fairly boring last night of racing.

Fortunately for me I can't ever figure any of it out anyway. I do wonder why you're equally penalized for 10 to 14 and 15 to 19 beers....And Peter Beth has told me in no uncertain terms: no ugly sweater, no party. Which probably means I'm going to be the only one showing up in an ass-hideous get-up.

Dude. I'm already feeling the wrath in the form of this ugly sweater torture. And I can never figure out what the f is going on with all those numbers. I just show up, drink, and ride.

ugly
Don't fret people of the sweaterless, uglyless and independent persuasions — you won't be alone. As you all know, it's impossible for me to wear anything ugly, so though I will attend in a sweater in a show of solidarity (which as you also all know is a cherished value to me), the act itself of me wearing the garment will render it beautiful. I believe the italians have a word for that.
We'll be posting the updated Performance Tracker, so you Steak can start doing the pre-race calculations . . . which look pretty interesting.

Don't fret Selene! I will be wearing an equally terrible get-up, so you will not be alone!

Thanks to Mike Yozell, there is a bar open in the Borough for those that don't have to try to be ugly ... just naturally end up there by the end of the night.

Re: FINAL NIGHT BREAKING NEWS...
At the risk of exposing my southern education for what it is (Atlanta's not the capital?) I fail to see how Bowman's going to be affected by this surprise ruling.steak wrote:Poor Bowman.
Right now he's got:
2 wins (x4=8 ) + 6 top 3 (x3= 18 ) + 7 top 5's (x2.5=17.5) + 6 top 10's (x2=12) + 2 top 20's (x1.5=3) + 46 beers (-4.5 penalty=41.5) = a GC multiplier of 100.
Using that same math (stars & bars ... whooo!), Yozell has a GC multiplier of 66. Hell, my GC multiplier is 66.
So am I screwing something up?
Or is beer still a good thing?

Re: FINAL NIGHT BREAKING NEWS...
It seems more a problem of reading comprehension than math skill. Alas, beers do NOT count toward the multiplier.

So does this mean that Bowman's GC Multiplier is:steak wrote:It seems more a problem of reading comprehension than math skill. Alas, beers do NOT count toward the multiplier.

And does this also mean that the South won't be rising again?
That was drilled into my head for years.
