Yes, Virginia, the cobbles are staying
Since the newly installed cobbles were such an enormous hit for Belgian Night last week, we've decided to make them a permanent part of FSX. This has nothing to do with no one wanting to tear the cobbles back out of the ground. Really.
In other course news, I just finished repairing tape and stakes from last week's slip-n-slide. Along the way, I did a bit of rerouting in an attempt to use the least muddy and rutted sections. The side yard is now re-rerouted back to its original path after the run-up. The Kuklis Chutes are now partly new, partly old with the usual tight turns. The original route (by "original" I mean FSX 2005-2007) up the tiny hill before entering the pines is staying. And the section immediately along the goat fence after the sandbox is still too muddy to ride (although the odds of electrocution make its inclusion tempting), so we'll still use the parallel route. I think that's it...unless tomorrow's rain changes everything.
Lastly, by special request, this Thursday has been deemed Ugly Christmas Sweater Night. Please wear your "best" to the after-party at the VFW.

And Beth is REALLY serious about the sweater. No ugly sweater, no party.

Ugly Christmas Sweater Night
I spent most of my evening in search of the ugliest sweater...and I believe I might just have the one! Merry Crossmas will be a fantastic final night!

Re: Yes, Virginia, the cobbles are staying
Dear FSX Fashion Divas,
I've been married to "FitGirl" for ten years. And in that time, she's done an amazing job of making me a better person ... and a better dresser as well!!!! Not only has she removed all the Miami Vice colors from my closet, but also all the sweaters that were given to me from "That Whorebag" have been tossed as well. And I don't think "Great-Grammy-Gram" was in the grave a day before the ones she knitted were thrown away.
Now I only have one sweater left. The one my wife gave me for Christmas a few years back. It's not ugly. But it's all I got.
So do I wear that sweater to the party? "FitGirl" will be there, and I worry that I might offend her (ok, I worry that she'll tear out my intestines and use them to mark the 'cross course next year).
Or do I not, and risk the scorn of the people I so desperately try to impress?
Please help, the party is just a couple of days away!!!!!!!

Re: Yes, Virginia, the cobbles are staying
While my fashion sense has always been questionable, Im at a loss for a truly wretched sweater.....I checked Salvie's (salvation army) over lunch but came up empty. Anyone have a secret stash of bad sweaters for this one? Its either that or I knit my body hair together and have a go.....
Re: Yes, Virginia, the cobbles are staying
I have been invited to no less than 6 "Ugly/80's Christmas Sweater" parties in the past couple years.
They (like cyclocross) are just stupid.

sweaters
Come on guys, it's not that hard. Nobody said you need men's sweaters. I'm privileged to know many an ugly-sweater wearer who's ventured to the other side of the Salvation Army and struck gold.
