Want a Fast Course?

Post  BikeBeth on Mon Dec 08, 2008 4:44 pm

This week's forecast says rainy and 55 degrees on Wednesday. Freezing overnight and only hitting a high of 30 on Thursday. What that tells me is that it's a pretty perfect scenario to roll the course when it's nice and sloppy soft, then it'll freeze overnight and leave us with a frozen, fast, smooth FSX course for Belgium Night.
I'm all into rolling as much of the course as I can, but I know from last year that there are some uphill sections that even a farmgirl from Indiana struggles with. So if anyone feels like dragging a big ol' barrel drum around the course anytime on Wednesday, give me a shout. (And thanks Matt for already volunteering to help out.)

Several people are coming around 10ish to help with rolling and the placing of the cobbles. The course also needs tape and stake repair. And there's still the "extra" signage from Mercer that can be hung. And firewood needs to be split, so feel free to stop by and we'll put you to work.

Worker Bees

Post  BikeBeth on Wed Dec 10, 2008 8:27 pm

A big thanks to Jeremy, Matt Allyn, Paul Pearson, Brad and Army Jay for all the help today in the pouring rain, sloshing through several-inch-deep mud. The roller was semi-successful until it got too heavy with the peanut-butter crap, but stomping and using trail tools worked well, too. And thanks Jay for once again splitting a boatload of firewood to keep us all warm tomorrow night. The forecast changed a little--crap--and it looks like it won't quite freeze tonight. So perhaps all our work was for naught. But the course looks great now. And the cobbles are beautiful...
