From mud to ruts

Post  BikeBeth on Fri Nov 30, 2007 10:13 am

I'm guessing course conditions for next week will have many riders perfecting their Superman/woman moves. A few people suggested dragging a big drum roller thing around the yard before it freezes. We tried that at one point last year, but we either tried too late or our roller isn't heavy enough.
If anyone has the equipment, time and will to roll the course, it would be much, much appreciated by all. But it's gotta be soon or the ground will be too hard.

If we got Ryan drunk enough we could roll him around the course.

Shouldn't be too hard to do.

(but seriously, I could lend a hand on Sunday if we got a roller)

Does anyone have a 30 gallon steel drum? Not the big 55 gallon size, but the next smaller one, I think they're 30 gallon...this would be super easy to make if we could get our hands on one.

No roller here, but I do have some pretty stout trailbuilding tools I could come by with on Sunday to at least break up the ruts to smooth them out a bit if all else fails.

Action Rental has rollers we could rent. $22 for a day. $71 for a week.

They're open Saturday from 7am-5pm.
They're not open Sunday. So if we wanted it for that day we might have to pay a little extra.

Allentown store's # is 610-395-3500

Saturday is a better day for course repair anyway. It's supposed to be a crappy wintry mix on Sunday. And the ground is likely to already be well-frozen by then.

The only issue is that it might be difficult to use a roller designed to be pulled by a machine, as the machine will need to go through the mud...

I was talking to Bowman and he might have a point, perhaps we're over thinking it... a couple people with shovels might be able to clean it up well enough in an hour ot two.

I could really use a truck to get my hay for the goats for the winter...while we're rolling, maybe I can borrow someone's?
